Claim Your Site 
When I try to sign up for my site, I see a different site listed. What should I do?
If you can’t sign up for your website, it means that <a href="http://www.alexa.com/" rel="nofollow">ALEXA</a> does not recognize your site as a separate site.
Note that Alexa measures traffic to domains. We do not recognize subdomains as separate sites. 
If your site has been incorrectly merged with another site, you can unmerge them using the
 Dealias Tool  If it looks like Alexa does not recognize your site as separate from your hosting company, then you can submit a help ticket to create a separate listing for your site: Submit a help ticket

(Note: You will be asked to login before you can submit your ticket!)
 How do I claim my “Google Sites” hosted site?
 Log into your Alexa account
 Go to <a href="http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/claim" rel="nofollow">ALEXA.COM</a> and enter your site
 Select one of the plans. 
You should use “Option 2: Add your Alexa verification ID to the home page of your site.”
 Copy the meta tag (which looks like this: ) from the example HTML.
 Leave this window or tab open.
 Log in to your Google Site in a new window or tab
 Click on the “More” button and then select “Manage Site”
 If “General” is not selected, click on “General” in the left-hand navigation
 Paste your alexa meta tag in the Verification meta tag box under “Google Webmaster Tools”
 Click on Save
 Go back to your Alexa account window or tab and click on the “Verify my ID” button
 Claiming a site hosted on Ning

To claim a site hosted on Ning, you can add the Alexa meta tag containing your verification ID to your home page.

Here’s how:
 On Alexa.com: Log into your Alexa account
 Go to http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/claim and enter your site URL
 Select the Intro plan if all you want to do is claim your site.
 You should use “Option 2: Add your Alexa verification ID to the home page of your site.”
 Copy your verification ID.
 Leave this window or tab open.
 On your Ning site: Log in to Ning and go to your Dashboard page
 Click on “Network Details” in the “Settings” section of the sidebar
 Add your Verification ID as one of the keywords.
 Click the “Save” button.
 (Your verification ID will be in a tag like this on your site:( )
 On Alexa.com: Go back to <a href="http://search.toolbars.alexa.com/?q=www.icahbanjarmasin.com" rel="nofollow">ALEXA</a> and press the “Verify my ID” button

Note:  To get your Ning-hosted site’s metrics Certified, use the Tools->Custom Code option to add the certify code to the pages of your site.

Can I edit my site information without claiming my site?

You must claim your site in order to update your site’s listing information.

In order to prevent unauthorized changes to a site’s listing information on <a href="http://www.icahbanjarmasin.com/2011/10/you-love-alexa-rank.html" rel="nofollow">ALEXA RANK</a> we require that site owners claim their site in order to prove ownership. Claiming your site involves uploading an Alexa-generated file to your website, or putting an Alexa verification ID into the HTML of your website. Here’s how to claim your site.

    How do I check the source of my home page?

If you get an error saying that Alexa cannot find the code on your site, you should view the HTML of your home page and check if the verification ID or Certify Code is actually present in the source code.  Here’s how:

Open your website’s home page in a browser and then follow these instructions:

In Internet Explorer:
        Right-click with your mouse inside your webpage, and select “View Source” from the pop-up menu

In Firefox:
        From the top menu, select “Tools” -> “Web Developer” -> “View Source”
        Or, in older versions of Firefox select “View” -> “View Source” from the top menu

In Chrome:
        From the top menu, select “View” -> “Developer” -> “View Source”
    How do I claim my site?

To claim a site you must prove that you own it by showing that you can upload an Alexa verification ID to your site.  This is to protect your site’s data from being changed by someone who is not authorized to do so.

Here’s how to get started:
 Go to http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/claim and enter the URL of your website
 Login or Create an Account
 Select a Plan for your website. (The Intro plan is a free way to claim your site and manage your site’s information on Alexa. The other plans provide additional benefits.)
 Next you must add the Alexa Verification ID to your site.
 NOTE: If you do not know HTML, the easiest thing to do is to just add your verification ID as one of your keywords for your site. Save your changes. Then press the “Verify my ID” button.

Here is more information on the two verification options:
 Option 1: You can upload an <a href="http://hajinorman.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">Tips For Alexa Rank</a> file to your website:
 Use this option if it is easy for you to upload a file to your website using FTP or another file transfer program.
 Note: You should not use this option if you are trying to claim a blog. Most blogging software creates URLs automatically and will not allow you to upload a file.

Option 2: Or, you can add an Alexa verification ID to the home page of your website.

 You can use the “View->Source” option in your browser to view the HTML of your website. The tag must be put in between the first <head> and the closing </head> tag.

How do I claim my Blogger/blogspot.com site?
 Log into your Alexa account
 Go to http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/claim and enter your site
 Select one of the plans.
 Use the “add Alexa verification ID” method to claim your site and copy the meta tag. Leave this window or tab open.
 Log into your blog in a new window or tab
 Click onto your Dashboard
 Click on the “Design” link
 Click on the “Edit HTML” link
 Paste your meta tag into the <head> section of the HTML (it’s best to do it on the line after the <head> marker
 Click on Save Template
 Go back to your Alexa account window or tab and click on the “Verify my ID” button

Your site should now be verified. Click on the Edit Site Info button if you wish to update your site’s public contact information.

If you are using the new Blogger 2011 interface follow these instruction to edit your blog HTML:
 Log in to your blog
 Click on the “Template” link in the left-hand navigation
 Click on the “Edit Template HTML” button
 Click “Proceed”
 Paste the Alexa meta tag just under the “<head>” tag
 Click the “Save Template” button
